Kinds and Applications of Infrared Rays.

1) Short Wave Infrared radiation (Near-infrared rays)

Of the infrared rays, that with the wavelength range closest to visible light is called a near-infrared ray. It is a range of infrared radiation that can be detected by the photoelectric receptor (light detector) because it is close to visible light. Its wavelength range is 0.8㎛ ∼ 2㎛, and it penetrates the skin of the human body the most deeply to make the human body feel the thermal effect.

This is in the middle area within the infrared wave range with the wavelength band of 2 ㎛ ∼ 4 μm, and the infrared radiation energy, which heats the objects directly in the air, is often emitted in this wavelength band.

This has the wavelength closest to the microwave out of the infrared wavelengths, and the wavelength band is 4μm to 1000μm. It is mainly used for heating high polymer materials or for drying organic solvents. The wavelength of 1000 ㎛ at the long-wave limit is mostly similar to the short-wave limit of the microwave generator or the microwave detector.
